From remote villages to coastal areas, dozens of initiatives have already been launched, responding to the most pressing needs of Djiboutian communities. In a country already facing the consequences of climate change, every project brings essential services closer to the people who need them most.
𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬: 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡, 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
💧 Water: Mobile purification units and emergency desalination systems have been deployed to secure safe drinking water in drought-affected regions.
🏥 Health: Rapid-response equipment and clean energy solutions have strengthened public health services in underserved areas.
📚 Education: 𝟐𝟒 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫, while over 𝟑𝟓,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐬, new dormitories and canteen facilities support students in rural regions.
In parallel, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 have restored over 𝟏𝟓,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬, reforested degraded plateaus, and ensured the conservation of marine turtles on Maskali Island. Recycling initiatives and the local production of reusable bags further reduce plastic pollution nationwide.
Each initiative is carried out 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, embedded in 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, and implemented with the 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬. This ensures that every contribution serves Djibouti’s long-term resilience and sovereignty.
To address immediate urgencies while preparing for the future, Sovereign Carbon Agency Djibouti structures its work around different levels of action:
